Electronic Technician - (HG17906)

Pay rate: $4,633.23/month

Employees receive annual benefit packages averaging $22,986.

Duties:

Repair telecommunications equipment (i.e. End of Train Devices, Front of Train Devices, AAR Locomotive Radios, Mobile Radios, Portable Radios, and Digital MW equipment). Trouble shoot to component level. Remove and install surface mount components. Test and certify equipment after repair. Install, Repair, and maintain all hardware components of Train Control systems. Work closely with internal and external customers to provide logs and history of Train Control system. Install and maintain Codex modems, doing monthly dial backups for pro-active trouble-shooting. Install and maintain packet switches that convert protocols to different field devices. Applicant will log into a phone hunt group and answer trouble calls. Shift work and some weekend work required. Will be required to work some overtime. Work closely with field signal forces to resolve outages, help test on some field cut-overs. Applicant will learn to use trouble ticket system and help monitor other systems within Train Control such as Hy-Rail Limits Compliance, Electronic Train Management System, Failed Equipment Detectors, Change Management etc.

Qualifications:

High school diploma / GED required. A General Radio Operator's FCC license is required for the job. Must successfully pass the BNSF " Electronic Technician Qualification Exam." Ability to install 40 pound overhead radio equipment in locomotives. Must be able to read schematics and trouble shoot problems. Soldering skills required. Must be able to lift and carry test equipment that can weigh up to 51 lbs.
