The Development Services Department is seeking a highly qualified individual to join the Engineering Division as the lead engineer. The successful candidate will be responsible for their unit's timely review of site, grading, subdivision plans (tentative and final plats), drainage reports and attendant documents. This individual will also be responsible for the coordination and assignments of work duties for their review team and will be the team leader on more complex review projects.

Some examples of the essential tasks are:

Conduct site visits and inspections

Identifies site problems

Responds to technical questions from staff, contractors and the public

Performs analytical work; enforces codes by reviewing and approving plans and specifications

Conducts research of field data and engineering records, evaluates design alternatives and improves programs for effectiveness

Ensures compliance with permit application requirements

REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field plus over two years experience in the areas of hydrology, site, grading subdivision plans design/review or other relevant engineering work experience. Knowledge of the City of Tucson Development Standards and the Stormwater Retention/Detention Manual is desired. A public/customer relations focus will be considered important for the successful operation of the plan review unit. Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Arizona and a valid driver's license required. Some supervisory experience preferred.
