HIRING NOW! The CDCR is currently hiring for the following classifications (please note that each institution may not be hiring for all classifications listed): Teachers (including Substitute Teachers), Librarians and Vocational Instructors.

This Hiring Workshop will take place on Saturday, 9/30/06 from 8:45 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Bakersfield Red Lion Hotel, 2400 Camino Del Rio Court in Bakersfield California.
REQUIREMENTS
A Teacher, Correctional Facility (CF), plays an important role in the total education, treatment and training process of students in State correctional facilities. They help students prepare to become vocational and life skills leading to GED, high school diploma or occupational certification. Teachers provide individual and group instruction, conduct assessment and testing and in many instances, participate in the development of an individualized plan. Teachers' duties include but are not limited to: preparing courses of study and daily lesson plans; monitoring student work; working with students and helping them to set and meet educational needs and goals; and participating in extracurricular programs, such as the Western Association of Schools and Colleges Accreditation process. In addition, teachers in a juvenile facility may serve on treatment teams that combine the services of personnel in the custody, academic, vocational, psychiatric and casework areas. The teacher has an important role providing information of an educational nature, which can help other members of the team better determine each student's treatment needs.

Among the teacher classifications available are: Elementary-Multiple Subjects (adult facility); Emotionally/Learning Handicapped (adult facility); High School-General Education (adult facility); High School-Physical Education (adult facility); Elementary-Multiple Subjects (juvenile facility); Emotionally/Learning Handicapped (juvenile facility); English Language Development (juvenile facility); High School-Arts and Crafts (juvenile facility); High School-English/Language Arts (juvenile facility); High School-Mathematics (juvenile facility); High School-Music (juvenile facility); High School-Physical Education (juvenile facility); High School-Science (juvenile facility); High School-Social Science (juvenile facility)

Applicants must possess a valid California Teaching Credential issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC). One of the following credentials will be required depending on the facility:
Single Subject Credential (adult facility); Multiple Subject Credential (adult facility); Standard Secondary Credential with a major or minor in an academic subject area (adult facility); Standard Elementary Credential (adult facility); General Elementary (adult facility); General Secondary Credential (adult facility); Single Subject Credential (juvenile facility); Standard Secondary Credential (juvenile facility); General Secondary Credential (juvenile facility).
