commodity manager, packaged foods and giftables - supply chain

Job Summary and Mission

This job contributes to Starbucks success by providing procurement, project management, analytical and influencing skills to lead the procurement team in developing and implementing purchasing strategies that support global manufacturing, distribution channels, markets and business units for a commodity. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.

Summary of Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Assesses the financial and strategic impact of business initiatives. Analyzes critical information to make effective decisions or recommendations for process changes. Develops and implements global procurement strategies to support business requirements; including sourcing, commodity management, negotiation, contracting, inventory control, cost analysis and capacity analysis within the framework of Starbucks, company and social responsibility values. Develops and manages strategic relationships with suppliers and internal customers to support business requirements. Develops project plans that define; scope, schedule, budget, business impact and risks. Executes plans, identifies, and resolves issues or obstacles, gains alignment and communicates to key stakeholders. Identifies supply and supplier issues, analyzes information to assess root cause, improvement opportunities and associated risk. Develops solutions and gains consensus in resolving issues. Leads the design and implementation of procurement processes and foundational procurement systems that improve service, efficiency, quality and reduce costs. Leads the development of requests for proposal, bid analysis, contract negotiations and blanket purchase orders. Plans and manages cross-functional business unit and department processes and practices to ensure that programs are aligned with company business goals and objectives. Prepares, communicates and educates client groups and team on changes in commodity policies and practices within the organization. Provides coaching, direction and leadership to cross-functional team members to achieve business results. Provides technical or product expertise to suppliers and internal customers regarding commodities, product or services. REQUIREMENTS
Summary of Experience
Direct global buying experience to include sourcing strategy and negotiations in like commodity 10 years Performance metrics development and root cause analysis 10 years Cost management, including cost reduction 8 years Project management, including project budget management 8 years Support design and implementation of automated Purchase Order Management systems 5 years Understanding of Supply Chain Management fundamentals 5 years Retail Merchandise experience preferred.
