3rd SHIFT OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR: BEAVEX

We are seeking an Operations Supervisor for our terminal located at: 5446 W Roosevelt, Phoenix, 85043. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 11pm-7am.

Summary:
Manage terminal operations for a specific shift / time period to prepare incoming and outgoing mail, freight, film, pharmaceuticals, etc. for distribution. Also monitor and manage dispatch related functions. Manage direct reports and provide excellent customer service. Examine, sort, and route by type, location, terminal, and/or customer. Keep records of shipments, pouches, totes, sacks, pallets, and other duties related to the Beavex courier services.
REQUIREMENTS
Responsibilities:
Operations-
* Implement key company initiatives.
* Recommend and implement process improvements and cost saving measures.
* Evaluate overall operations and develop monthly reports for customers and upper management.
* Maintain high standard of performance and quality control in regards to sorting customer materials.
* Responsible for effective use of company management tools – CourierBase, track & trace technology, scanners, palms, and Nextel’s as applicable.
* Collaborate with corporate, managers, and staff members in order to implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
* Oversee ordering or purchasing of supplies, materials, furniture, or equipment for the shift. Responsible for all equipment assigned to the operation during the shift.
* Sort and distribute mail, pharmaceuticals, film, and other customer materials to appropriate destinations and according to established procedures and deadlines.
* Measure, count, or examine customer materials, and compare with manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy of shipments.
* Correspond with Beavex management to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, sort mistakes, and nonconformance to specifications.
* Load, unload, wrap, palletize, or stack containers, materials, boxes, or products to and from cars, trucks, planes, and other transportation mobiles.
* Inspect physical conditions of warehouse, keep clean and organized, and handle all maintenance, repair, or replacement as necessary.
* Prepare documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, and shipping orders to route materials.
Assist Vendors and Independent Contractor drivers by helping load and unload vehicles for timely departures.
* Various administrative tasks including making copies, answering telephone calls, handling paperwork, monitoring dispatch, etc.
* Ensure that the policies and procedures as defined in the Company Operations Manual and Employee Handbook are consistently followed.
* Other duties/tasks as assigned.
Personnel-
* Responsible for staffing within the shift; Coordinate with the Corporate Human Resources department to recruit, screen, interview, hire, discharge, transfer, or promote employees, and oversee those personnel processes.
* Manage direct reports: Set performance goals & initiatives, discipline staff as appropriate, plan and organize work assignments, perform training and staff development.
* Use conflict resolution techniques to resolve personnel problems or grievances.
* Assist the Terminal Manager in evaluating the performance of employees and handling the annual performance reviews.
* Train, monitor, and enforce company policies and procedures during the shift.
* Monitor employee time keeping, overtime hours, PDO (Paid days off), and vacation schedules.
* Oversee investigation of work related accidents and/or injuries, to ensure completion of all required paperwork and communication with the corporate office.
* Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal labor laws.
Customer Service-
* Provide excellent customer service by responding proactively to investigate and resolve customer inquiries and/or complaints.
* Manage relationships with Agents, Vendors, and/or IC’s to ensure warehouse is prepared to meet all customer requirements.
Compliance-
* Maintain Warehouse facility compliance by retaining documents and records in order to pass a company audit; comply with all DOT regulations (if applicable) and OSHA requirements.
* Promote safe work activities by conducting and/or attending company safety meetings. Oversee work progress to verify safety or conformance to standards.
Education, Experience, and Skills:
* HS diploma and some college experience strongly preferred
* 5-7 years management experience, preferably in a warehouse setting
* Intermediate computer skills (working knowledge of Word, Outlook and Excel)
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to foster teamwork and train others
* Handle extensive and repetitive light and heavy lifting, loading, and unloading
* Ability to sit, stand, bend, crouch, and walk, etc. for long periods of time
Travel Requirement: Not applicable to this position under most circumstances.
Work Environment: Warehouse or Mailroom with exposure to hot and/or cold weather, dust, grease, or dirt, and possible exposure to moving machinery and high noise.
