Jr BSME Design Engineer

Purpose: Our client, an aerospace manufacturing company in Long Beach, has an immediate need for a Jr. Design Engineer.

SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the design, development and analysis of potential new or modified mechanical products, placing emphasis on customer and regulatory requirements, quality, producibility and Company profitability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Develop and design new products working from concepts and basic design criteria
-May be responsible for preliminary stress calculations to ensure product strength
-Coordinate with Manufacturing Engineering and Production for product improvements and value engineering
-Responsible to perform position duties utilizing computer aided design equipment
-Responsible for layout and design determining functionality, materials and tolerancing
-Formulate, conduct and report tests as may be required to substantiate designs
-Edit technical publications for designed products

SPECIAL FUNCTIONS
-Ability to support multiple projects
-Other tasks as may be required to perform duties and responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS
-BSME or equivalent industry experience
-Minimum 2 years industry experience (ideally in aerospace)
-Minimum 4 years computer aided design experience
-Must be proficient with solids and 3D modeling in Solidworks or Mechanical Desktop
-Working knowledge of stress analysis (computer based preferred)
-Working knowledge of ANSI Y14.5 Standards
-Good written and oral English communication skills
