Counter Sales
Description: The position consists of answering and documenting all incoming telephone calls to assist customers with rental their rental needs. The position includes increasing revenues by opening new accounts, suggestive selling, building and maintaining professional relationships, and coordinating / providing services for our customers. This includes taking orders for deliveries, pick-ups, and fielding telephone calls that require some mechanical or operational troubleshooting with equipment. May deliver equipment occasionally.
Working Conditions:
Fast paced working environment with extended hours that can require standing for long periods of time. The majority of work is inside with limited exposure to the outdoors when doing daily inventory checks or assisting customers with loading and unloading equipment when necessary. There is exposure to chemicals such as gasoline, diesel fuel, propane, and cleaning solvents. The position also requires constant interaction with co-workers and the public.Job Requirements

•Must possess excellent phone skills such as the ability to carry on a conversation with callers, maintain a friendly, energetic tone and handle multiple phone lines
•Must possess sales and customer relation skills
•Previous outside or inside sales experience is a plus.
•Knowledge of construction rental equipment is a plus.
•Must be knowledgeable of the geographical layout of the area.
•Must possess multi-tasking abilities
•Must be detail orientated
•Must have neat and legible handwriting
•Basic computer and typing skills
•Must maintain a professional personal appearance.
•Must be able to use mathematics to solve problems
•Must be able to communicate in English. Ability to speak another language is a plus
•Must possess good communication skills to enable communication with customers and co-workers
•Must maintain an acceptable attendance record.
•Maintain a cooperative working relationship with co-workers.
•A high school diploma or equivalent GED is preferred but not required.
•Be able to frequently lift 25 lbs, occasionally lift 50 lbs, and seldom lift 90 lbs
•Must be able to grasp and apply new information quickly
•Must pass company drug screen
•Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record
•A Class A or B CDL License is a plus
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Answering and document all incoming telephone calls. This includes assisting customers, outside sales, vendors, Sunstate administrative personnel, and all other inquiries.
•Perform all routine rental transactions including creating rental reservations, scheduling the pick up of off rent equipment, creating rental quotes, and may include processing all returned driver, yard, and field service paperwork.
•Assist all walk-in customers, vendors, potential job applicants, or any other person that walks in the door in an upbeat and professional manner.
•Assist customers with selecting the appropriate type of equipment for their job to ensure customer satisfaction and safety.
•Communicate via two-way radio with the yard and shop relative to assisting customers in loading/unloading of equipment and communicating equipment needs for orders.
•Reviewing the credit card rental file on a daily basis to ensure proper and accurate billing.
•Enter all lost rentals, rate inquiries, and service calls into the counter logbook.
•Review the open contract bin regularly to look for items that should be sold for rent, contracts that have already been closed and reviewing the open credit card rentals file to ensure accuracy.
•Maintain a neat and organized workspace which includes making sure there are enough forms and other supplies at all times.
•Communicate any leads or follow-up information to the field sales personnel for their follow-up.
•At times may be required to help load/unload and deliver equipment for the customers.
