Open Text is recruiting for an outstanding Technical Consultant / Developer the Irvine, CA area.
Purpose of Position
Interface with client to flush out, document and design technical solution based on client’s vision and requirements. Under broad direction, advises on or manages the solution development of a highly specialized consulting engagement or a functional area of a large, complex engagement. Acts as a leading authority on at least one service offering, industry or function and displays a deep working knowledge of others. Understands customer requirements and advises project team on highly specialized, large portions of solution architecture and implementation. Applies expert business skills and consulting methodologies to collect and analyze data. Exhibits a broad knowledge of all service offerings within Open Text. Scopes the specialized portion of engagements and provides expertise during proposal preparations. The incumbent works on complex problems that impact the design success of current projects or addresses broad design issues for future projects. Makes executive presentations on results specifically related to the specialized portion of the engagement. Influences the strategic direction of the practice. May matrix manage a team of contributors.
Primary Duties
Analyze and document requirements pertaining to system customizations and integrations.
Ability to analyze legacy data map to existing data schemas, create appropriate script or code to convert data into Live Link environment.
Advises engagement leaders on complex technical issues.
May lead specific technical or functional portions of large engagements.
Leads post-implementation reviews of complex, high-risk engagements.
May be a specialized participant in other reviews.
Develop and implement agreed project and business plans according to Professional Services methodology.
Skills and Knowledge
- Ability to code in various programming languages, o-script a plus.
- Familiar with software development methodologies and practices.
- Experience with various software and systems development life cycle methodologies.
- Demonstrated delivery capabilities of collaborative knowledge, document, and records management projects.
- Prior experience with Livelink, Basis, iRIMS, WorkSMART, OnTime and other Open Text products is an asset.
- Technical breadth and/or depth in a client / server environment with any combination of the following:
- Network Design - NT Workstation/Server, SMS, UNIX, Exchange, TCP/IP, NetWare
- Messaging Design - Exchange, Notes, GroupWise
- Database Design - SQL/Server, Oracle, Informix
- Windows NT Apps Development - VB, VC++, OLE, COM/DCOM, CORBA
- Internet/Intranet Apps Development - IIS, IE, ASP, VBscript, VJ++,UNIX, Java, HTML
- Fully experienced in designing and developing complex solutions for a functional area of a large engagement or a cross-functional small engagement.
- Expertise in a specialization and a deep understanding of others.
- Acquires and expands knowledge of various fields of concentration.
- Significant experience leading large portions of complex engagements, significant experience in specialty.
- Recognized internal expert in a least one service offering.
Bonus skills and knowledge
Experience using several of Unix/Sun Solaris/HP-UX, NT, Linux, Windows 2000/XP and other operating systems.
Academic
Bachelors or advanced degree preferably related to Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
Clearance
Proof of ability to legally work in the United States is required.
Work Environment
General office or home office environment with regular business hours of 8:30AM to 5:30PM. However, work outside of these hours may be necessary due to project schedules, and deadlines. Carrying a phone/pager and travel is required approx 75%.
