Risk Mgmt. Loss Prevention Consultant / Industrial Hygienist

Candidates must have a strong industrial hygiene background. Experience and professional designation is preferred.

This position is responsible for the following:
*Conduct thorough and effective industrial hygiene evaluations and loss prevention assessments of state operated facilities
*Develop detailed loss history reports for state agencies
*Provide trend analysis for agency management and recommend actions for reducing or eliminating casual factors of agency losses
*Provide assistance in program development and implementation
*Prepare final reports and valid assessments of real or potential workplace health hazards
REQUIREMENTS
*Knowledge of:
-Regulatory requirements established by OSHA, EPA and other governmental entities including fire and building codes
-Insurance claims, safety and health regulations, government structure, occupational, health, security, employment practices and processing audits
-State statutes and rules relating to Risk Management
-Techniques and procedures in collecting and testing samples

*Skill in:
-Oral and written communication
-Practical application of safety management and loss prevention principles
-Coordinating activities and establishing priorities
-Effective interpersonal skills in dealing with all levels within an organization and the general public
-Interpreting laws, rules, standards and cooperating procedures
-Anticipating and recognizing potential hazards
-Technical, complex, informative and persuasive report writing
-Training of a variety of loss prevention related equipment

*Ability to:
-Interpret standards and make appropriate recommendations
-Complete assessments, investigation or consultative visits
-Respond to complaints and prepare reports
-Provide valid assessments of real and potential workplace health hazards
-Ensure successful safety programs are in place and being adhered to by all state agencies, boards, commissions and universities
-Interpret standards to make recommendations for resolution for occupational hazards related to toxicological effects

PREFERENCES:
*Strong industrial hygienist background and experience

REQUIREMENTS:
*Requires a valid Arizona State driver's license
*Background investigation
*10% to 30% statewide travel (sometimes overnight) is required
