We are currently seeking Staff level employees to join the national Unclaimed Property Services group. We are a national service line that specializes solely on state unclaimed property laws and assists our clients with compliance. We are flexible on the applicant's current location, but would prefer teaming the individual with a senior manager position that is located in the Pittsburgh, Dallas, or Los Angeles area.
Specific experience in the unclaimed property field is not necessary, but a plus. We seek candidates who are motivated and have experience or training in technology, written and verbal communication skills, and basic accounting skills. Candidates should also possess the following attributes:
Good organization and project management skills
Effective written and oral communication skillsProficient technology skills (in particular MS Excel & Word)
Creativity/problem solving ability
Enjoys a challenge and at times dealing with ambiguous situations
Team-oriented, but can work independently if required
Ability to read, interpret and gain a basic understanding of various state requirements
Ability and willingness to travel
Service areas include:
Unclaimed Property Audit Assistance
- Work with senior leaders and client to assist in managing state unclaimed property audits;
- Review records requested by auditor and other necessary records in order to identify areas of potential noncompliance;
- Work with client to develop strategy for mitigating the potential liability.
Unclaimed Property Voluntary Compliance Services
- Review of General Ledger Chart of Accounts and Trial Balances
- Assist with identifying categories of potential unclaimed property
liability
- Quantification of potential liability by property type
- Suggest strategies to reduce potential liability
- Report Preparation
- Work paper file maintenance
Unclaimed Property Policies and Procedures
- Assist with analysis of company's existing unclaimed policies and procedures
- Conduct interviews of accounting personnel
- Type notes, memos to the file, etc.
- Proof reading draft documents
Provide additional support to project leaders as requested.
Qualifications:
BA/BS, Accounting Major desired
