Product Manager, Business Intelligence
The Cobalt Group—a leading provider of online retailing and search engine marketing solutions for the automotive industry—seeks qualified applicants for the position of Product Manager, Business Intelligence (PMBI). A key strategic role, the PMBI functions at the nexus of Cobalt business operations, championing analytics, business intelligence and reporting. The PMBI identifies actionable data and trends and assesses market needs and customer business requirements in order to address current and future product requirements and product development strategies. In short, this is one of Cobalt’s most important, challenging, interesting, and rewarding positions.Key Responsibilities
The PMBI heads up a cross-functional team to produce reporting requirements focused on data collection, storage, mining and presentation. This position is responsible for the product requirements and execution of Web data collection, reporting and analytics for Cobalt’s portfolio of websites and search marketing services. Working with Cobalt’s business and technology groups, the PMBI ensures that the analytics’ solution supports the future growth and decision-making requirements of Cobalt and its customers. Your primary objective: Identify and leverage data to improve customers’ businesses, deliver performance insights, and optimize processes and website and search activities. An essential member of the Cobalt Business Intelligence team, the PMBI works closely with Cobalt’s Product Planning, Business Analysis, Product Development, Marketing, Customer Care, Data Warehouse, Database, and QA Test teams.Essential background:
This position requires a solid understanding of Internet-based technologies, data collection methodology, reporting tools, statistics and predictive modeling. The right candidate will have both the professional experience and the strategic vision necessary to drive continuous enhancements of reporting capabilities and tools and manage the refinement of processes and procedures to increase the efficiency and quality of analytical processes and development efforts. This position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively between multiple disciplines, teams and personnel.Required Skills5-8 years of product management with progressively increased responsibilityBA in business, marketing, or technical field, or equivalent work experience. (MBA preferred but not required.)
Direct experience with Omniture, WebSide Story, NetIQ, WebTrends or CoreMetrics, and Informatica.
Experience working closely with engineers
Familiarity with code and technical design
Functional understanding of search marketing, site optimization, and competitive practices; comfortable working in multiple disciplines: technology, sales, marketing, programming
