Admissions Counselor

TITLE:ADMISSIONS COUNSELOR
Purpose: The Admissions Counselor is responsible for growing the Hospice Program by gaining referrals through daily, planned marketing activities.

Responsibilities: The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, having a thorough knowledge of:
-hospice admissions criteria;
-terminal diagnoses, symptoms and treatments;
-all reimbursement sources, contracted and otherwise;
-the Medicare hospice benefit;
-all other Medicare Parts A and B providers and reimbursements;
-professional sales and marketing.
Functions:
1.The Admissions Counselor develops a weekly, monthly and quarterly marketing plan that is consistent with meeting set admission goals. These are presented in a timely fashion to the General Manager for review and direction.
2.Fulfills a minimum of five (5) quality sales calls each day within an assigned geographical territory. This number is averaged on a biweekly basis.
3.Has total awareness of all referrals made in his/her territory and responds in person to each after a physician's consent for evaluation has been provided.
4.Provides an assessment of all referrals for hospice appropriateness under the medical guidance of the Clinical Coordinator in that territory.
5.Explains all aspects of the patient's hospice benefit and answers all patient/family questions prior to admission.
6.Completes all necessary forms, consents and professional notes prior to admission.
7.The Admissions Counselor meets or exceeds his/her pre-determined monthly admissions quota.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications:
1.Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse Prefered
2.A minimum of 1-year professional sales experience in the healthcare field
