Wastewater & Environmental Civil Engineer

• Assist in expanding GTI’s sphere of influence and client base in the wastewater and drinking water system areas
• Work in conjunction with other professionals to develop solutions and treatment systems for water and wastewater/effluent streams and contaminated soil and groundwater sites
• Serve on a team/direct a team performing exciting and challenging projects with an emphasis on wastewater management and treatment system design, small community water system design, WDR/NPDES monitoring and other project requirements as well as on LUST sites
• Serve on a team/direct a team performing remedial system design for contaminated soil and groundwater projects
• Make sound engineering judgments on complex engineering matters and perform the necessary computations
• Coordinate and obtain permits as needed for projects
• Check, design, and supervise the construction of treatment systems
• Interpret and evaluate a variety of hydraulic and hydrogeologic data, with emphasis on groundwater resource protection and contaminate fate and transport
• Manage project work flow and schedules with adherence to budgets
• Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, with project team members, clients and regulatory personnel, serving as liaison when needed
• Document projects in written reports and oral presentations when necessary
• Supervise outside consultants and subcontractors
• Supervise, train, and evaluate professional and technical subordinates, and provide technical guidance to staff as needed
• Interact with California regulations and perform compliance management on projects including water and wastewater systems, LUST sites, WDRs and Federal NPDES applications
REQUIREMENTS
• BS (& MS preferred) in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university in civil engineering with possession of a Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of California
• 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in civil engineering practice covering small wastewater and public drinking water management & treatment system design and trouble shooting

Or

• An Engineer in Training with a Masters degree in civil engineer that is driven to excellence, willing to put in the extra effort to learn and develop opportunities and markets available in the Central Valley

Abilities (must have):
• Hands on experience and working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and AutoCAD
• Project management skills
• Sound decision making and problem solving abilities; attention to detail and strong organization skills
• Ability to perform in a high volume, time sensitive/deadline environment
• Ability to handle multiple tasks/projects at a given day
• Ability to work and contribute to a team environment
• Be current with modern developments, current literature and sources of information regarding the assigned area of engineering
• Knowledge of applicable laws and regulatory codes relevant to design and construction in the area of assignment with ability to interact with government agents requiring permits for project installation
• Some structural experience designing retaining walls and foundations would be beneficial
• Must meet company-defined, pre-employment screening and physical
• A valid California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record
