Responsible for developing and maintaining the "Johnson Way" of hardware and software engineering standards. Responsible for utilizing all available technology in the design of standard applications for total building control systems including fire, security and integration solutions. Emphasis is on the creation of the lowest total installed cost-effective systems that meet customer expectations. Coordinates with other team members to deploy the "Johnson Way" throughout the organization. Considered Johnson Control's advanced control system's resource. Teams effectively with Corporate Clients, Area Teams, System Integration Services, Security Solutions, System Product and Tool development teams.





Principal DutiesEstablish and maintain the System & Services' engineering style guide. Emphasis is on development of an engineering style that will be consistently utilized by the area teams. Builds and maintains the "Johnson Way" of field tested standard applications that are reusable, installable, and serviceable. Mentors other application engineers and co-ops / engineering assistants in completion of projects or tasks. Responsible for generating and maintaining the System & Services standards library. Coordinates with area teams to ensure that they use the System & Services standards library. Accountable to area teams for quality and efficiency of standard applications. Performs value engineering to provide cost effective results while maintaining customer satisfaction. Prepares or oversees the preparation of layout and installation drawings. Communicates with System Products and other teams on development of new products and tools. Communicates effectively with Corporate Clients, Area Teams, System Integration Services, Security Solutions, System Product and Tool development teams.

REQUIREMENTS


Bachelor's degree in engineering, with 8-10 years of progressively more responsibility in the construction industry. Prior experience in supervision of a technical/engineering group. Understands accounting principles and cost management. Good oral and written communication skills, especially in the presentation of technical material.
