Sr. Estimator

Purpose: Heavy Construction/Grading Contractor in Westlake Village is seeking a Senior Estimator. This company specializes in mass development projects - mostly residential for large developers. They are an $80mil company that has over 200 employees and is privately owned; they also have an office in Wyoming.
Candidates must have:
1.Practical Experience doing Grading Estimates (10+ years)
2.Can run own take-offs
3.Know how to use Hard Dollar software
The estimator will estimate the job and then manage it as it progresses, so they will wear somewhat of a project management hat as well, but not onsite.
Civil Engineering degree. No PE required.
No management responsibilities, but will estimate jobs from the bidding phase and manage it after they win it.
Be able to use hard dollar estimating software, read plans, and do take-offs using AutoCAD.
Will be required to travel throughout SoCal.

Summary:
-Responsible for preparing all construction bids
Essential duties and responsibilities:
-Reads and analyzes soils reports
-Studies and analyzes grading plans
-Attends pre-bid conferences
-Conducts site inspections
-Arranges for field-tests if appropriate
-Supervises development of cut/fill maps and quantity takeoff
-Determines haul routes
-Determines equipment mix for job
-Calculates costs for each bid item
-Drafts special conditions unique to project to be added to standard terms and conditions sheet for the company
-Reviews bid calculations with owners
-Finalizes calculations and prepares and submits bids
-Meets with client to explain bid if appropriate
-Prepares re-bid if necessary
-Participates in negotiating contracts for winning bids
-Great Communication skills
