Sr Civil Engineering Designer

SR. ENGINEERING DESIGNER
An opportunity for a Senior Engineering Designer, who will be responsible for performing most engineering design tasks of an above-average complexity with little assistance from others. You will evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications.
Responsibilities include:
Performs work that involves conventional types of plans for the design of street, storm drain, sanitary sewer and other public works facilities.
Prepare final engineering drawings, plans and maps in accordance with agency criteria, perform design work in setting horizontal and vertical alignments for street, sewer and water main improvements, etc.,
Prepare grading plans and plot plans, computes grades, earth quantities, materials and cost estimates, and produces finished drawings from preliminary design sketches and field survey notes
Prepares technical drawings using AutoCAD; prepares standard drainage reports for storm drain design; makes difficult geometric and trigonometric computations
Interfaces with agencies and sub-consultants; prepares tentative maps and provides responses to field questions during construction.
Supervises or coordinates the work of draftsmen or technicians who assist with specific assignments, and maintains a high level of quality control.
May prepare complex hydrology, hydraulic and other technical engineering reports, applying knowledge consistent with that gained in achieving Sr. Design Engineer job requirements.
Performs miscellaneous duties as needed or assigned. Job Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
PE preferred, with 3+ years civil design experience and a general understanding of the overall development and design process
Proficient in establishing concept design work, with a basic knowledge of the plan processing procedure
Strong knowledge of drainage, improvement plan and grading design
Good organization skills necessary to maintain project schedules and budgets; good verbal and written communication skills
Computer literacy with drainage, coordinate geometry and CAD software; Softdesk preferred
Good technical writing skills; capable of writing reports, letters and technical specifications.
