The Developmental Services Department is seeking a highly motivated, qualified, dedicated, dependable, competent and customer-oriented individuals to join the Residential Construction Inspection Team. Candidates must be proficient in construction methods and materials to conduct inspections of residential construction projects to ensure compliance with building codes.

Some examples of the essential tasks are:
Inspects residential construction (single family residences) by examining construction, plumbing, electrical and mechanical equipment and systems to ensure compliance with the approved plans, the International Building Code, Local Amendments and Accessibility Standards.

Works closely with homeowners and general contractors.

Provides detailed and accurate records of inspections.

REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent certificate plus six months of technical or vocational training in a construction planning, drafting or related field. Over two years of experience inspecting residential properties for compliance with building codes, approved plans and specifications in a major construction field such as carpentry, concrete, electrical, plumbing or mechanical systems or equivalent related training and experience and/or five years field construction experience. A valid driver's license is also required.

Certification by the International Code Council (ICC) is preferred. Acquisition of two ICC Certification in Residential Combination Inspector series (building, electrical, mechanical and plumbing) is required within 6 months of hire. A graduate of a journeyman's apprenticeship in a building trade highly desirable.
