IT, SR, Production Support Engineer

Marshall & Swift, the worldwide leading provider of building cost technologies since 1932 is seeking an Sr. IT Production Support Engineer.

This position is responsible for product implementation, configuration changes, application support & maintenance, and troubleshooting to meet the needs of our production application(s) housed out of either our New Berlin WI or Los Angeles, CA offices.

This position will be the lead of two IT Product Support Engineer individuals reporting to him/her.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE:
Performs a combination of the following duties according to departmental guidelines for Production support:
•Level II expertise:
oInstalls upgrades and configures software and database systems as required by clients. (occasional 2nd shift work, on call)
oResponds to the needs and questions of users concerning their access to the production software environments
oWork closely with the Network Operations Center (NOC) staff to monitor correct, report and document all production errors.
•Production / Entry to Mid-level Database expertise
oWorks with Development and SQA to obtain software and coordinate testing.
oAnalyzes existing system and programming logic to provide more efficient machine operations or to identify difficulties, and revises the logic and procedures involved as necessary.
oStays up to date on trends and developments within functional area of expertise and the Insurance Industry
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
•Minimum AS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Business Management or equivalent experience
•3 years of systems admin / DBA support, implementation, or support expertise for client/server/Internet based “custom application” in Microsoft environment.
•Experience with providing application support in a 24x7 environment

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
•2-5 years System Administration (Microsoft) at high level II
o2- 3 years experience with Windows 2000 Server
oTwo (2) years experience with Internet Information Server
oConfiguration and Administration
oUnderstanding of http 1.0 / 1.1 protocol
oBasic familiarity with security protocols (SSL; TLS; certificates; etc)
•Two year of experience with SQL Server 2000 Database Server Administration
o1-2 years of experience with generation of T-SQL scripts and DTS Packages
oKnowledge concept of MTS/Component Services Configuration
oFunctional knowledge of SQL
oDatabase performance & SQL tuning experience
oPractical implementation experience of schemas and stored procedures
oUnderstanding of core DB components, including replication
•Problem resolution duties
oApplication Production Support Experience
o1-2 years experience working in a support environment
oPractical knowledge of problem management tools
