Construction and Engineering Specialist – Combat Engineer
The Combat Engineer is an Wyoming Army National Guard Soldier who serves as an integral member of a combat team, providing vital construction and engineering support. Through extensive Army National Guard training, these specialists design and build bridges, roadways, secure perimeters, and tactical firing systems under a variety of climate conditions, environments, and time constraints. They also ensure safe mobility of combat teams by locating and safely neutralizing mines and other traps. The technical skills developed by Combat Engineers are highly valued by the Guard as well as by civilian employers.
The Wyoming Army National Guard is an elite group of warriors who dedicate a portion of their time to serving their nation. Guard members train part-time to be ready full-time, should their state or nation call them to serve.
Major Duties
Performs basic combat construction.
Operates various light or heavy engineer wheeled or tracked vehicles
Participates in combat mobility, countermobility, and survivability operations
Prepares and installs priming and firing systems for demolition and explosives
Arms, disarms, and installs anti-personnel and anti-tank mines
Recognizes and neutralizes booby traps, friendly and threat mines, and firing devices
Conducts reconnaissance operations, determines limiting slopes, curves, stream velocity, and gap widths
Directs construction of combat bunkers, shelters, and non-explosive anti-vehicular obstacles and expedient lifting devices.
Conducts ground reconnaissance for roads, routes, bridges, tunnels, fords, and ferries

REQUIREMENTS
Must be male - this job is not open to women
High School Diploma or GED
Between the ages of 17 and 39
Normal color vision
Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
Ability to lift very heavy objects
