Construction Estimator

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Utilizing AutoCAD, design moderate to complex floor plan layouts and construction plans, preparing a complement of details for each project. Prepare plan sets for engineer stamps. Use software to prepare basic engineering calculations for staff engineer’s approval. Generate a materials list and price the building project. Initiate inventory requisitions. Prepare cut sheets as needed. Review Builder contracts and specification sheets to ensure all information is the same. Special order nonstandard material. Address and resolve Salesperson, Field Crew Supervisor and Builder inquiries and problems dealing with pricing, project details, construction processes, etc. Coordinate/communicate with Builders to prepare a proper building layout. Redesign plans due to change orders or inventory requisitions. Research new construction materials and methods for possible future use. Ensure that supplies are at the job for the crew. Address and resolve shortages, damaged, wrong, or stolen materials. Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documents, etc. Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards. REQUIREMENTS
Ideal candidate will have working knowledge of commercial or residential construction design, construction experience, 2-3 years of CAD drafting experience, and a minimum of an associate's degree in Architectural Design or a degree in Construction Management or Construction Technology or a related field. Applicant must have good communication skills, above average math skills, be detail orientated, able to multi-task, all coupled with strong teamwork skills and a positive attitude.
