Commercial Property Claims Specialist
RESPONSIBILITIES: Note: This position will be located in our office, not in the field. 1. Processes assigned commercial property claims involving losses up to authority granted. In accordance with established procedures, policy coverage's and the fair claims practice acts, conducts or coordinates investigations of claims to evaluate property damages, interview insureds and witnesses, secures appropriate documentation pertaining to the claim and prepares the claim for disposition. Uses discretion when engaging independent adjusters, cause and origin experts, obtaining independent medical evaluations, etc., to control expenses. 2. Ensures timely and accurate reserving. Adjust reserves as necessary. 3. Reviews claims to identify fraud. 4. May initiate subrogation activity including investigation and case submission to ensure prompt and sufficient recovery of monies. 5. Notifies underwriting of questionable risks encountered to ensure risks are identified. 6. Pursues a program of personal and professional development including insurance and systems-related courses. 7. Adheres to department quality standards to ensure that they provide the highest level of service. 8. Performs other duties which may include catastrophe team participation and 24-hour on-call service program. EDUCATION: BS/BA degree or equivalent work experience EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three years experience in commercial property claims adjustment. May be required to be licenced in states serviced. Continuing education courses leading to industry certifications preferred (e.g., AEI, IIA, CPCU). Knowledge of claims investigation techniques, medical terminology and legal aspects of claims.

EDUCATION: BS/BA degree or equivalent work experience EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three years experience in commercial property claims adjustment. May be required to be licenced in states serviced. Continuing education courses leading to industry certifications preferred (e.g., AEI, IIA, CPCU).
