Director of Distribution Center #825-06 (#825-06)
The Distribution Center, located in Seattle Washington has an opening for a Director of Distribution.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Direct the activities connected with the receiving, storage, and shipping of dry and perishable products to meet demanding retail store requirements.
Take ownership of facility and accept responsibility for all aspects of the operation.
Proven ability to hold all employees accountable.
Drive continuous improvement in the areas of profit, ROI, process improvements. Utilize new technology and processes available to maximize efficiency.
Manage employee relations by dealing with grievances, corporate, LR, plant employees, and other business agents. Union contract agreements; includes administration, interpretations, grievance meetings, preparation for negotiations, and involvement in negotiations
Aggressively cultivate and promote a positive and innovative work environment.
Ensure Safeway policies, procedures and practices are strictly adhered to, including appropriate audit, controls and segregation of duties are in place to support Sarbanes Oxley compliance.
Hiring and development of plant staff.
Develop and manage distribution operating and capital equipment budgets.
Responsible for maintenance of facilities, material handling equipment, and trucking equipment.
Plan, delegate, and monitor progress on work assignments and special projects of those in your area.
Ensure accurate inventory maintenance, maintain timely distribution schedules, organize emergency preparedness plans, and control salvage and pallet repair activities.
Responsible for managing food safety/sanitation programs to meet or exceed both ASI and company standards.
Development of a strong management team to support succession requirements throughout the corporation.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: The following are preferred or desired unless specifically stated:
4 year college degree in Logistics or Business Management
10 years of progressive distribution management experience.
Experience in computerized warehouse management and transportation management systems.
Understanding of financial/accounting principles and operational budgeting.
Demonstrated experience in implementing and managing engineered labor standards.
Ability to empower the workforce and build strong teams through hiring, developing, evaluating, training, coaching and succession planning.
Strong communication skills and ability to build direct relationships with hourly associates while managing multiple union contracts.
Proven ability to manage and lead a diverse workforce strongly preferred.
Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of initiative and flexibility.
Proven ability to define performance measures directly related to business and hold people accountable for such.
Proven ability to do financial analysis and review and analyze existing cost data.
Proven experience in developing and managing annual operating plans (P&L)
Excellent customer service focus, results oriented.
Computer skills, including Excel, MS Word, and Adage.
Must possess the following traits: proactive, risk taker, change agent and strong sense of courage.
Must be comfortable at giving and receiving open feedback.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
