This position will proactively support a variety of scientific computing needs for the laboratory staff. The successful candidate will be able to translate lab-computing needs expressed by clients into scalable, standardized solutions. This position will be responsible for developing processes for, deploying laboratory systems, maintaining regulatory compliance, keeping lab systems up-to-date both by maintaining security patch levels and matching appropriate computing hardware to instrumentation requirements, and managing laboratory services such as automated data backup and electronic data collection. End user support of scientific applications is frequently required including installation, proper configuration, and maintenance of user security levels.
Prioritizing tasks based on enterprise impact, functionality for users, network security, and Amgen corporate goals is critical. A Support Analyst II must be able to effectively communicate with systems administrators, network administrators and database administrators in order to provide behind the scenes technical solutions for clients.
REQUIREMENTS
A B.S. in Computer Science, Chemistry, or Life Sciences is required. Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years experience IT support within the pharmaceutical or biotech fields. A strong understanding of the lab environment is required. In addition, the candidate should have extensive experience with Microsoft technologies for corporate environments (Windows 2000/XP, Active Directory, Group Policies, SMS, WSUS). Microsoft certification in Windows 2000, XP, or 2003 is required. Experience working within a regulated environment (GxP) desired. Candidates must have experience in implementation of corporate IT projects and initiatives. Demonstrated strong customer service skills are a must, as is the ability to properly document processes and procedures. Must have demonstrated ability to work with scientific staff members. Familiarity with equipment used the pharmaceutical industry is required.
