To manage and oversee financial accounting activities in the areas of general ledger and financial reporting, expense analysis, capital projects, audit, and other related functions for Clinical Pharmacology North America.
To assist Covance Financial Management by performing analysis activities and assisting with ongoing closing and reporting functions for the company.
To identify opportunities and lead efforts to improve processes and drive efficiencies in financial accounting and related functions for Clinical Pharmacology.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:Responsible for the general ledger and period end closings for Clinical Pharmacology NA in compliance with Corporate policies and deadlines.
Responsible for the monthly expense review process including the analysis of budget or trend data vs. actual performance for Clinical Pharmacology NA.
Provide accounting support to the Clinical Pharmacology units, including the preparation of mid-month estimates, review of unbilled balances, etc.
Responsible for the timely preparation and review of account reconciliations, quarterly SEC schedules, quarterly fluctuation analysis, annual tax packages, and other financial schedules or analyses as assigned for Clinical Pharmacology NA.
Responsible for the timely resolution of outstanding items in account balances or CER's to maintain a clean balance sheet for Clinical Pharmacology NA.
Prepare and maintain key accruals for the Clinical Pharmacology NA units including bonus, sales commissions, property taxes, PTO liability, etc.
Assists with the development and implementation of financial policies and practices for Clinical Pharmacology NA.
Assists with the development and implementation of internal controls and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance for Clinical Pharmacology NA.
Assists with coordination of all external, internal, and special audits relating to Clinical Pharmacology NA.
Assists with the preparation of semi-annual budgets and forecasts as needed.Qualifications
B.S. in Accounting plus more than 8-10 years related experience. Professional certification (CPA, CMA) preferred.
Knowledge of financial statements and GAAP.
Proven ability to review and analyze data.
Proficient computer operation skills including accounting system, spreadsheets, and word processing software.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
