Production Technician

Technician/Assembler Description: In support of the development of a prototype molecular diagnostic instrument, the technician will assemble and package diagnostic consumables for research and development. Following standard operating procedures, the tasks involve (1) cleaning and drying of plastic parts, (2) preparation of liquid reagents, followed by dispensing and freeze-drying reagents using automated equipment, (3) aligning and laminating the rest of the assembly for a functional consumable, and (4) packaging the product for testing in the R &D environment. Documentation of all lot numbers and sample tracking are required. Assembly will occur in a Clean Room environment, where gloves, lab coat, hairnet, shoe covers, and face masks are required during assembly procedures to maintain product cleanliness.

This position will report to the Manufacturing Division, but initially the work will be in an R&D environment. The position starts in the Foster City campus, but may move to the Pleasanton campus.

Requirements:

high school diploma, GED or equivalent

1-3 years of assembly experience, preferably in a GMP or ISO environment, preferably with small parts and close tolerances.

taken high school chemistry and/or biology classes

excellent written and verbal communication skills

meticulous and observant

able to work productively with minimal supervision

comfortable working in several labs or assembly areas

comfortable working with and operating new, state-of-the-art equipment

comfortable working in a face-paced, multi-disciplinary environment

able to report issues and problems to research scientists and engineers
