Procurement/Materials Specialist

Tengion is a rapidly growing biotechnology company that develops bioengineered tissues based on proprietary breakthroughs in autologous tissue engineering technology and optimal biomaterials. Located in King of Prussia, Tengion is currently seeking a Project Engineer II to join our Technical Services team.

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

Procurement (Corporate):
•Work with stakeholders to develop reliable sources of raw materials, supplies, parts, equipment, and services. Continually search for new vendors that provide greater value
•Work with Director, Business Unit Operations to negotiate the purchase of raw materials, supplies, parts, and equipment
•Place orders for Corporate, Technical Operations, and Tengion Labs
•Advise requisitioner when order is placed
•Follow-up and expedite deliveries as needed
•Arrange for returns to vendors when appropriate
•Participate in vendor audits
•Track vendor performance and provide feedback information to requisitioners
•Maintain/update all Master Files in the Purchasing and Inventory modules in Great Plains (Vendor, Price, Item Numbers, etc.)
•Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the data in the Purchasing and Inventory modules in Great Plains

Materials/Logistics (Commercial Operations):
•Work with stakeholders to estimate material requirements
•Arrange for purchase/delivery of materials to ensure maximum shelf life and adequate time for Quality testing
•Track materials through the testing process to ensure materials are available when required
•Track expiration dates to ensure that material has not expired. Remove expired materials from inventory and arrange disposal
•Work with stakeholders to establish reorder points and minimum/maximum reorder quantities for routinely used materials
•Manage inventory levels to ensure adequate supplies at lowest possible investment
•Provide support to Unit Operations Director for the logistics of shipping/receiving biopsies and constructs
•Provide Management with report of inventory levels and values
REQUIREMENTS
Requirements:

•3 to 5 years of purchasing/inventory management experience
•Experience in the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry
•Experience with MRP/ERP systems; preferably Great Plains
•Good planning, organization and negotiating skills
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•15%-25% travel required

Education:

•Associate or Bachelors degree in business required
•APICS certification or training preferred
