Lab Analyst

Role Purpose
Provide complex chemical and/or microbiological testing for wastewater and/or potable water and analytical support for customers and employees.

Key Accountabilities

•Collect monthly bacti samples and required compliance samples for SDWA for Ft. Lee and Hopewell.

•Analyze bacti samples (approx. 70 per month) for compliance for Hopewell, Ft. Lee and Warsaw.

•Prepare all required monthly and SDWA reports for State submission.

•Perform required compliance sampling for Operating Report Parameters - Phosphorus, Iron, Mn, etc. for Hopewell. Maintain lab certification for parameters. Assist in completion of State report forms for all 3 areas with Production/Network staff.

•Perform training to all operators on SOPs of lab testing for parameters that the operators conduct for QA/QC for the Hopewell WTP operation.

•Conduct semi-annual performance testing of all operators conducting local analyses.

•Initiate baseline security monitoring program using DELTATOX kit. Begin with Hopewell and work to capture Ft. Lee and Warsaw.

•Evaluate and control spending to support laboratory business plan.

•Cultivate productive customer relationships with utility subsidiaries and other business partners
REQUIREMENTS
Education

•Bachelor’s Degree in a Science related field and a minimum of three years of environmental laboratory experience preferred. Additional experience may be substituted for Bachelor’s Degree.

•Ability to operate analytical instrumentation and/or perform microscopy and conduct related data analysis.

•Strong quantitative skills (e.g. analytical, technical, problem solving, attention to detail)

•Good interpersonal skills (e.g. cooperation, teamwork, tact/diplomacy, persuasion, and ability to motivate others)

•Business knowledge

•Good verbal and written communication skills

•Computer literacy (competent in the use of spreadsheets, LIMS and other software as needed)
