Infection Control Practitioner
THE POSITION
-The Infection Control Practitioner is responsible for the coordination and management of a hospital-wide infection control program, infection control surveillance, education, monitoring trends that have been identified through surveillance, and maintain all regulatory functions
-Ensures that leadership has current information on JCAHO standards and federal, state, and county requirements pertaining to infection control
-Responsible for organization and coordination of the infection control committee
-Functions as a consultant to all hospital staff on infection control issues and liaisons between the infection control committee and other hospital departments.
-Qualified candidates will have bachelor’s degree in a health related field with at least two years experience in infection control; registered nurse with acute care experience and master’s degree preferred.
-Successful candidates will have knowledge of the principles and practice of hospital infection prevention and control, epidemiology, and infectious diseases. Strong knowledge of infection control standards (JCAHO, Title 22, CDC, APIC Guidelines) that affect the content of policies and procedures for the hospital is required.
