Drug Safety Specialist

The clinical division of MedFocus is currently in need of a Drug Safety Specialist, to work for an established pharmaceutical company in Stamford, CT. This is a contract opportunity with an expected contract length of at least 6 months.

Duties:
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
·Answering the drug safety telephone line
·Reviewing emails and letters received by drug safety.
·Interact with consumers and health care professionals as the Company representative for Drug Safety and Pharmacovigilance.
·Evaluate each call/letter/fax/email to determine if the report is an adverse event, product complaint, report of concern, or other.
·Direct calls and/or document calls as appropriate.
·Enter information into a validated database.
·Send a detailed written notification of each call to the appropriate personnel.
·Determine if additional information is needed on an adverse event and/or product complaint and follow up as appropriate.
·Adhere to strict time tables during the processing of each report and manage multiple time sensitive priorities.
·Run test scripts for validation of new product complaint database.
·Perform quality control checks of information entered into the Product Complaint database against source documents.
REQUIREMENTS
College degree, medical discipline highly preferred, RN, MD or other related healthcare field
1+ years of pharmaceutical or biotech industry experience is preferred
The ideal candidate will have worked in a true customer service environment, preferably on the phone addressing customer issues and complaints
Examples of the types of areas where an appropriate candidate may reside would be a poison control center, or other customer service environments at pharmaceutical companies.
Excellent English skills are required (both written and spoken).
