Responsibilities:
The candidate will be responsible for the operational application administration of various business applications, including Remedy, Filenet, SAP, Business Objects or other applications as needed. He/she will provide operational expertise and support for the install, maintenance and administration of packaged enterprise application software. The incumbent will provide expertise to layout the operational landscape, including creating Runbook documentation, implementing Operations processes and procedures and developing scripts for maintenance and monitoring automations. He/she will serve as the point of contact for aforementioned applications to the user community in order to resolve server application questions and technical support issues, communicate system statuses and track issues and enhancement requests. The candidate will perform system refreshes, client copies and will apply software patches and fixes. He/she will perform daily system health checks, weekly checks and is responsible for overall system tuning. The candidate will be involved with problem escalation and resolution by working with software and hardware vendors to resolve problems. He/she will support 7-day/24-hour operations and regular on-call rotation will be required. The incumbent will provide technical consulting to application development, enterprise rollout, integration and change release management teams. He/she will manage and/or consult on the architecture and design of the hardware and software within Genentech environments for all deployment efforts, including new IBM AIX hardware, as well as software upgrades. The candidate will develop innovative solutions or improvements that will result in enhancements to current methods, procedures and processes. He/she will analyze system performance, database performance, system health checks and implement tuning improvements.
REQUIREMENTS
A Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or a similar discipline is required. A minimum of five years of experience supporting business applications at enterprise level (5000+ users) in production environment (Remedy AR Server (v5+), Business Objects, SAP) and a minimum of three years of experience in administering Oracle and SqlServer databases is preferred. Experience in Installation, Configuration and Supporting Systems, Knowledge Management (Primus) and Business Intelligent querying software (Crystal Report, Brio, Oracle) is desired. Experience in web technologies, J2EE web application infrastructure (Websphere v5+, Tomcat, Apache) and Web Application Security (Netegrity SiteMinder, LDAP) is desired. Exposure to SAP Basis Administration is preferred. Candidate must have experience in working in a UNIX environment, especially Solaris 8-9, AIX and Linux. The candidate must possess the ability and willingness to provide off-hours on-call support. He/she must demonstrate commitment to providing excellent customer service. Excellent written and verbal communications skills are essential. A commitment to production of high quality documentation is a must. Professional demeanor and strong work ethic are required.
