Stress Analyst Skills Management Title Structural Analyst
Job Level: EXEMPTBusiness Component: Integrated Defense Systems (IDS)Job Description: AWACS Block 40/45 Production Program - Structural Analysis - Provide technical expertise supporting large-scale modifications required to integrate an updated mission system onto the existing Airborne Warning and Control System fleet. Candidate should have a clear understanding of design and analysis techniques relating to strength, stress, and the stability of structures. The candidate should also have a basic knowledge of damage tolerance/fracture mechanics, durability, design allowable development, finite element modeling, and design criteria development. The person in this position will perform in a cross-functional team environment developing strength check notes and formal analysis plus review drawings and certification plans. Apply knowledge of advanced structures analysis (e.g., modeling, static, fatigue, damage tolerance, etc.) and materials to determine structural adequacy and specific qualification compliance. Apply knowledge of structural analysis, materials, and related regulatory and qualification requirements in order to collaborate on structural designs of products. 8 years of aircraft advanced structural analysis experience (modeling, static, fatigue, etc) required. Experience working in an integrated product team (IPT) environment required. Experience with OSS&E airworthiness procedures and military/commercial derivatives are desirable. Basic knowledge of CATIA v4 and v5 digital design processes is desirable. Candidate must excel in an innovative, rapid paced environment with challenging requirements and new processes. Must be capable of performing multi-disciplined trades to arrive at preferred, affordable aircraft system solutions. Competencies Ability to interpret engineering drawings and digital models in order to understand structural configuration characteristics. Apply knowledge of linear finite element methods and tools (e.g., NASTRAN, PATRAN) to develop structural models and compute deflections, loads, stresses, natural frequencies, and mode shapes. Apply knowledge of engineering computing hardware or platforms (e.g., PC, workstation, mainframe) and Boeing developed and commercial software to conduct Structures Technology analysis and tasks. Apply knowledge of company, customer, and regulatory agencies' (e.g., FAA, Military) requirements for structural design in order to create or apply structural design criteria. Apply knowledge of structural engineering (e.g., strength of materials, free-body diagrams, buckling, statics, dynamics) and scientific principles to develop, design, analyze, test, and validate structures solutions. Apply knowledge of materials engineering (e.g., stress-strain relationships, ductility, corrosion, fatigue and fracture characteristics, environmental impacts) and scientific principles to develop, analyze, and validate structures solutions. Listens effectively; demonstrates understanding; clarifies meaning for others; speaks with clarity and precision; able to communicate with a diverse audience; writes clearly and concisely.
