Senior Staff Accountant


Pettit Oil Company, a Washington Top 150 privately held company, is currently looking for a top-notch senior-level Accountant. The Senior Staff Accountant is a pivotal position in our Hoquiam, WA accounting office, reporting to the Vice President of Finance.

Responsibilities will include:Supervising one accounting clerical direct report who handles the daily treasury/banking functionsOverseeing all daily and monthly banking functionsEnsuring the accuracy of the company’s balance sheet, including performing detailed monthly balance sheet account reconciliationsPreparing monthly accrual and various other standard journal entriesOverseeing the publication of monthly financial statementsMaintaining and filing timely personal property tax affidavits; tracking personal and real property tax payments; filing local business excise tax returns monthlyManaging the fixed asset system, including determining appropriate book and tax asset classifications and depreciation methodsWorking with the VP of Finance on a variety of reporting requirements for both external and internal customersActing as a resource for questions related to GAAP and accounting policiesAssisting in the professional development of other accounting staff
REQUIREMENTS



The successful candidate will have:A 4-year Accounting degree plus 5 years of accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experienceProficiency with Microsoft Office products, including expert level Excel skills (prefer experience with pivot tables, database, macros, and Visual Basic)Experience with MAS 200, FAS, F9 and Crystal Reports software is strongly preferredCPA preferredPetroleum industry experience preferred
