Full Job Title: Senior Economics Specialist Level 5 Skills Management Title Customer AnalysisJob Level: EXEMPTBusiness Component: Commercial Airplanes (BCA)Job Description: The Future Market organization plays a key role in several important Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) processes e.g. long term and near term forecasting, business and strategic planning, and product development. The Future Market organization has a requirement for an experienced Economics Specialist to work within the Market Analysis team. The role will be part of a team dedicated to maintaining and developing expertise in market forecasting, market assessments, scenario analysis, and strategic planning. A position in the Market Analysis team offers interaction with peers and BCA leadership in addition to working together with external customers and suppliers. These can include representatives from industry and management consultancies, aerospace manufacturers, airlines, government agencies, industry associations, academia, and the media. The goal of the BCA Future Market organizations as well as Market Analysis team is to be recognized for world class knowledge and thought leadership on the commercial air transportation market, and to provide sound advice and consultation to Boeing business units and leadership teams. The roles of the position include: Review analyses and forecasts provided by economic data and consulting services to support the development of global traffic forecasts for BCA. Contribute to the development and modeling of the global traffic forecast by providing sound economic insight on the major influences impacting and shaping the global travel and tourism industries, and air transport systems and markets. Provide custom extracts of economic, travel, tourism, and air transport industry data, with accompanying analysis and interpretation. Provide guidance or advice in their use. These extracts will include GDP forecasts, macro-economic data, international trade data, financial data, and demographic data Develop and present analysis and interpretation of major trends and uncertainties in the global geo-political and economic environment, and assessments of potential outcomes for this environment. Identify and monitor key leading indicators of change. Participate in reviews of aviation industry dynamics models and provide detailed economic interpretations of the drivers of industry trends and cycles and their implications for BCA. Draft analytical reports and present their results in a business relevant fashion by making complex subjects tangible to the team, leadership teams and external audiences. In addition, contribute to the dissemination of results derived from analyses by participating in individual and collegial team projects as required Competencies Relevant experience in the travel, tourism, or air transport field; Track record of producing relevant analyses of macroeconomic issues knowledgeably interpreted highlighting their impact on travel and transportation industry subjects. A good understanding of macroeconomics models and forecasting techniques and processes, including their strengths, weaknesses, and limitations of the forecasts they produce. Familiarity with global economic systems and the drivers of global economic trends, particularly those influencing the demand for air travel. Experience interpreting events and data in light of the broader industry and economic context. Ability to perceive major uncertainties and the various ways they might shape the economic and industry environment. Sound knowledge and practical experience of quantitative analysis and modern statistical methods; experience working with databases and major software packages; willing to manipulate data as well as interpret. Proven ability to organize and manage projects to deadlines with a minimum of supervision; capable of being self sufficient; demonstrated ability to work within a team. Good communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to maintain harmonious working relations at all levels in multicultural multidisciplinary environments. Demonstrated ability to draft industry relevant presentations and reports of high quality; Ability to enlighten others about economic systems, economic trends, and their implications for the travel, tourism and air transport industry.
