Full Job Title: IT Project Manager Skills Management Title Project Management-ItJob Level: EXEMPTBusiness Component: Boeing World HeadquartersJob Description: Experienced technical Project Manager(s) to manage software development projects for the Crew Information Services IT organization. Be part of this fast paced, IT organization supporting Commercial Aviation Services, producing revenue generating software that resides in the airplanes, supporting pilots and crews as well as the backend systems on the ground. Many of the applications reside in or support the Electronic Flight Bag. This rapidly expanding IT team requires additional project management support for several projects, all in different stages of development. Other projects are still in conceptual design. Each project manager is responsible for a subset of these projects. Responsibility will include managing team activities and acting as primary customer contact to meet project objectives, while integrating resources from Boeing, subsidiaries, vendors, and offshore suppliers. Establish project plans and schedules to deliver complex (Part 121) software parts on-time and within budget, while conforming to all Boeing and Industry standards for quality, reliability, and safety. Apply project management techniques and tools as well as Boeing standard project management methodology to reduce risk. Communicate program performance results in frequent project status reviews with various level of management. Work as part of a team to identify and establish best practices in the development, certification and operational approval of aircraft systems in compliance with DO-178B. Responsibility also includes identifying emerging needs and proactively developing business cases, identifying and acquiring funding and resources, creating detailed plans, and tracking progress for multiple concurrent IT projects. Apply knowledge of systems integration, scope definition and control, activity and cost estimating, time and cost management, quality management, information distribution and performance reporting, risk management, and procurement processes. Requires adaptability to software development methods, ranging from rapid prototyping, to robust production solutions delivered to airline customers. Competencies Position requires at least 5 years of experience in IT Project Management, knowledge of project management disciplines and applicable information technology policies and standards, and software development methodologies. Requires working knowledge of computing system life cycle including: analysis and requirements, software design, automated server systems, client/server, desktop and business systems, test, software and computing systems quality assurance, and information technology configuration management. Strongly prefer experience with Fujitsu Macroscope, SEI/CMM, ISO, or AS9100. Familiar with DO-178B or FAA types of audit compliance a plus. Familiar with Windows/2000 and Linux environments and java a plus. Prior experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Project required. Must be able to build strong working relationships with customers, suppliers, and peers. Must be a self starter with excellent communication and people skills. Working experience with large-scale system design and integration of near real-time software preferred.
