Economic Specialist

This position provides support and reports to the Senior Director of the Strategic Investment and Research Division at the Arizona Department of Commerce. The Division is responsible for maintaining the state's economic clearinghouse, conducting economic and policy research, developing economic data and information to support agency programs and providing support to the Office of the Governor related to the economy.

Under the direction of the Senior Director, the Economic Specialist will be responsible for:
*Developing data and information related to Arizona's economy and competitiveness
*Writing reports, articles and other documents
*Assisting in the operation of economic modeling and survey programs
*Maintaining web content, databases and geographic profiles
*Developing presentations
*Attending meetings
*Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate will have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
*Bachelor's degree in Economics or coursework in both finance and economics
*Extensive knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel, Outlook and Access
*Familiarity with survey and economic modeling software
*Knowledge of data products from the Arizona Department of Economic Security, BEA, Census, Federal Reserve, etc.
*Skill in public speaking/conducting presentations
*Excellent writing skills
*Skill in project and time management
*Good math skills
*Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
*Capable of managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines
*Ability to understand and interpret economic and financial information
*Fast learner and interested in continuous learning
*Travel in-state on occasion
