Category: Mechanic-A,Mechanic-B,Mechanic-CDepartment: MaintenanceJob Level: ExperiencedCompensation: To Be Discussed at InterviewTravel Involved: NoneJob Description: A qualified “A” level mechanic is capable of performing complex trouble shooting and diagnostic procedures efficiently by utilizing past experience, logical thought and the latest technologies including mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic testing equipment.Mechanics will have knowledge of engines, transmissions, diagnostic procedures, electrical systems, HVAC, wheelchair lifts and related mechanical parts, methods and procedure normally used in servicing mechanical equipment for transit vehicles. The contractor shall ensure that all mechanic staff, within 12 months of the date of hire or the start of the contract, whichever comes last, will obtain ASE Certification in the eight (8) Medium/Heavy Duty Truck aspects (T-1 Gasoline engines; T-2 Diesel Engines; T-3 Drive Train; T-4 Brakes; T-5 Suspension/Steering; T-6 Electric/Electronic Systems; T-7 HVAC; and T-8 PMI) or the seven (7) School Bus Aspects (S-1 Body Systems and Special Equipment; S-2 Diesel Engines; S-3 Drive Train; S-4 Brakes; S-5 Suspension/Steering; S-6 Electrical/Electronic Systems; and S-7 Air Conditioning) and T-8 PMI (Medium/Heavy Duty Truck) aspects.
REQUIREMENTS
Education: Technical/Specialized TrainingJob Requirements: An “A” level mechanic is broadly defined as a professional Journeyman Level maintenance technician that has a minimum of four years experience as a mechanic and has significant experience in the major systems and subsystems of motor vehicles.Mechanics must have a minimum of 2 years experience of automotive/diesel repair and or a combination of training and experience OR graduated an automotive technology course at an accredited trade school or college and have 1 year of experience with ASE or other comparable certificationsMust have own tools.Pre-employment drug screening and background check is required.
