Lane Operator

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Pre-inspect vehicles for safety and exhaust system integrity.
•Assist customers to and from the waiting area.
•Enter appropriate vehicle information and verify data against computer data.
•Maintain accurate and safe test fee handling practices.
•Perform vehicle tests and inspections accurately that are consistent with vehicle testing training.
•Safely and professionally operate vehicles during emissions test.
•Maintain informative and polite communication with customers during their visit to the station.
•Refer questions/comments to appropriate station personnel.
•Ensure test information is accurate prior to delivering to customers.
•Maintain personal and test station appearance, performing janitorial tasks as required.
•Maintain and promote a positive attitude with the public, fellow employees, and others.
•Notify management of any safety or security concerns.
•Assist Lead Lane Operator and Station Manager with opening/closing of station, training and other station procedures.
•Various other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
•Good communication skills both written and verbal.
•Computer keyboarding skills.
•Able to enter and exit customer vehicles.
•Able to stoop, bend, and reach
•Able to reconcile large sums of cash and prepare reports.
•Able to work at a fast pace to meet testing requirements.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
•High School Diploma, GED or customer service experience.
•Previous experience in vehicle emission testing or a service position preferred.
•Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
•Have or be able to obtain AES/ASE A-8 Certifications or Ecology approved alternatives.
