Assist the Store Manager in the daily operations of the store so that good customer service is maintained while maximizing sales and profitability.

Train and motivate work force
As an extension of the Manager, the Assistant Manager must work closely with all employees to ensure they are properly trained. An Assistant Manager ensures all personnel complete The Athlete’s Foot training programs and will demonstrate and teach proper sales techniques to all Sales Associates. In addition, this position reports any need for disciplinary action to the Store Manager.

Customer service/satisfaction
The Assistant Manager must be proficient in all phases of the operation so that any questions are answered and customers are taken care of in an efficient manner.

Merchandise sales
Together with the Store Manager, sales volume and profitability must be increased. This position personally services customers using all Athlete’s Foot programs as well as ensures that the staff is trained and motivated to do the same. The Assistant Manager ensures that the store is staffed properly at all times and that in-store promotions are set correctly and on time.

Maintain store
The Assistant Manager ensures that the store is set up as per communications from the home office and that all pricing and sales tags are correct. In addition, this position ensures that all housekeeping and cleaning duties are performed daily, that the stockroom is properly maintained and that all fixtures are in proper working order.

Theft Prevention
The Assistant Manager is charged with protecting the company’s inventory and assets. This position assures that all loss prevention policies and procedures are adhered to 100% of the time and that all shipments are accurately received. Any security problems as they relate to either customers or Sales Associates are reported to the Store Manager.

Organization
The Assistant Manager, under the direction of the Store Manager, is responsible for the daily work schedule as well as preparing reports on daily sales and receipts. The Assistant Manager ensures that all daily sales reports and daily deposit slips are recorded and filed properly, the POS terminal is opened correctly for business, all transactions are processed and recorded and time, the POS terminal is correctly closed and reports generated and that bank deposits performed per company policy.
