Sr. Accounting Specialist
Summary/Position Objectives:
Reporting to the Director of Finance, Managed Health Plans, this position will be responsible for performing non-routine, moderately complex accounting activities in support of the financial accounting, reporting and analysis of Schaller Anderson contracted employer groups, plans and third party administrator clients (collectively know as “Clients”). Incumbent will provide oversight for the weekly fee-for-service and capitation check runs. Incumbent will timely perform other accounting functions as needed, for the preparation and closing of the monthly financial statements of the Clients. Incumbent will maintain accurate and confidential financial data.
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
Responsible for overseeing the preparation of Fee For Service and cap check runs and related reports
Responsible for testing system implementations/upgrades of plans related to the check run process
Responsible for application of provider advances and voiding of checks when necessary
Resolve complex claims payment system problems
Act as point for check run process, including guiding, training and instructing the Accounting Specialist
Reviews Accounting Specialist’s work and provides performance appraisal feedback on the Accounting Specialist
Reconcile and review monthly vendor payment processing invoices
Responsible for developing and maintaining desktops and manuals related to payment function
Provide other support as needed, in the monthly financial statement closing process
Special projects, as determined.

REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge and Skills:
Incumbent needs the ability to perform detailed and disciplined work using standard methodologies of Accounting. Incumbent must have advanced and meticulous organizational & coordination abilities, strong problem solving skills, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks. Intermediate skills in mathematics applications are required. Incumbent must be able to successfully utilize Microsoft Office suite and common computer and office hardware functions. This position requires work experience in a complex, competitive environment with diverse racial and socio-economic factors. Advanced interpersonal skills, maturity, and good judgment are required.
Education and Work Experience:
Bachelor’s of Arts in Accounting/Finance or four (4) years directly related healthcare accounting experience required.
