Position Description

POSITION:Senior Financial Analyst

DEPARTMENT:Reimbursement Services

GRADE:4M

REPORTS TO:Reimbursement Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Reimbursement Services Department is responsible for the strategic functions of maximizing facility reimbursement. This would involve ensuring that expenses and revenues are reported in accordance with the applicable regulations. This position develops and implements new strategies.


DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1.Maximize Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement.
2.Prepare the monthly settlement analysis for receivable and payable balances.
3.Train and direct reimbursement analyst.
4.Prepare Medicare cost reports in compliance with all government requirements, with explanation for material variances.
5.Prepare revenue projections for budgeting and perform variance analysis.
6.Plan, Train and Review the Medicaid cost reports in partnership with General Accounting.
7.Facilitate all Medicare and Medicaid audit and appeal research.
8.Collect Medicare and Medicaid dollars due to EHSI based on rate appeals, audits appeals and paid rate vs. accrued rate.
9.Perform rate reviews to verify the rate calculations are correctly stated.
10.Facilitate the preparation of all supplemental reporting to the Federal and State government.
11.Represent the company at State health care association meetings as needed.
12.Perform CMI reviews.
13.Prepare Managed Home Medicaid cost reports.
14.Review statistical data for cost reporting (i.e. bed banking, square footage, certified bed monitoring).
15.Research Medicare and Medicaid impact on operational decisions.
16.Keep up-to-date on Medicare and Medicaid regulations and communicate with all levels of the home office, regional and facility personnel.
17.Perform divestiture/acquisition analysis.
18.Provide feedback to regional personnel on reimbursement issues that will affect operations by modeling proposed or newly enacted regulations.
19.Maintain currency on all related regulations.

1.Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

PHYSICAL
REQUIREMENTS:Ability to lift 20 lbs.

EDUCATION:Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent, preferably with course work in accounting or finance.

EXPERIENCE:Minimum two years related experience, with strong reimbursement knowledge.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:
Ability to read, write, speak and understand simple and complex sentences in English. Ability to take, transfer, interpret, and analyze informations. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication, analytical, and decision-making skills. Must have above average mathematical skills and ability to understand various accounting and reimbursement principles. Ability to interact and cooperate with others. Must be able to travel overnight.
