Changing behavior like that is tough to do. People need to have tremendous confidence in us. This confidence is reinforced in the interaction between our customers and our employees in Technical Support. Customers think they've made the right decision by investing in our products and services. They've taken a step towards changing how they manage their finances. And of course, they have questions. How do I set up my software? How do I upgrade to the newest product? How do I set up a network? We in Technical Support listen, analyze, support, empathize and respond promptly helping each customer make the most of our products and services.
It's consultative problem solving - we listen carefully and ask questions to diagnose complex customer issues. This requires strong analytical skills and since it is really teaching over the phone, by email and even online "chat," it requires significant communication skills.
We provide a lot of training and information to set you up for success but it helps if you already know a lot about operating systems, hardware and software troubleshooting. And of course have the ability to analyze, research and identify options. And although we've already said that you need excellent communication skills, we'll say it again to show we're serious! Prior technical support experience in a call center environment makes a big difference. It also helps to have completed some college coursework, preferably in accounting, business, math, and/or computer science, and preferably a couple of years. A 4-year degree is even better.
