Job Description:
Sales representative for the UHC Key Accounts responsible for broker/consultant and direct sales to customers in the 100 to 5,000+ employee range. The principle focus is the sale of new fully insured business with indirect responsibility for the retention of existing accounts.
New Business Sales:
Identifies potential healthcare business customers.
Accountable for prospect from presale to implementation.
Attains targeted sales goals for region and healthplan.
Produces sales resulting in profitable premium levels.
Leads cross-functional team to achieve positive sales results.
Identifies opportunities for ancillary/Enterprise products on all new sales.
Travel as required.
Relationship Building:
Develops and maintains strong broker/consultant relationships.
Develops and maintains key internal relationships.
Understand customer and broker/consultant needs and provide value-added consultation.
Identifies key brokers/consultants for management development.
Presents a positive image of UHG in the marketplace.
Community involvement through professional organizations, associations and local organization.
Miscellaneous:
Maintain current knowledge of all UHC products, services, and underwriting practices and principles.
Effectively communicate UHG/UHC strategies and mission to the marketplace.

Detailed understanding of all UHC products, services and solutions.
Working knowledge of Enterprise/ancillary product lines.
Healthcare Knowledge:
Understands goals, operating principles, strategies and competitive position of UHC.
In-depth healthcare knowledge, understands important trends.
Demonstrates knowledge of competitors strengths, weaknesses and strategies.
Understands medical management operations and strategies.
Financial and Underwriting:
Understands financing methodologies and strategies (fully insured).
Thorough knowledge of UHC underwriting principles and practices.
Possesses basic math skills.
Can explain and justify a renewal rate to customers.
Understands the drivers of fees and liabilities.
Internal Operations and Capabilities:
Understands UHC information systems capabilities and strategies.
Ability to navigate UHC internal departments to produce positive service results for clients and the company.
Extensive knowledge of internal people, roles/responsibilities and processes.
Relationship Building:
Ability to build and maintain strong client and producer relationships.
Ability to build and maintain strong internal relationships.

5+ yrs. successful healthcare experience.
Sales exp. with full range of products (POS, HMO, indemnity).
Sold healthcare products through direct sales or brokers.
Sales insurance license maintained by law.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in related field.
Maintains valid driver's license.
