Perot Systems Corporation is a worldwide provider of information technology services and business solutions to a broad range of clients. We are currently looking for a Coder I to join our team in Flagstaff, AZ .Job Responsibilities:
In the Coder I position you will review medical records in a timely and accurate manner. Assign diagnoses and procedure codes, through utilization of appropriate classification systems. Extracts and validates clinical and demographic data elements from medical records for clinical abstract database and reporting to outside agencies as required by law. You will abstract data elements from the medical record for submission to meet facility, state and federal requirements.Required Skills:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Computer/data entry skills - Microsoft Office

Strong interpersonal skills

Working knowledge of Medical Terminology, Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology and Disease Process.
Review billing documents to ensure capture of all diagnoses and procedures.
Verifies supporting documentation for outpatient services.
Assigns codes for all diagnoses and procedures according to accepted coding guidelines, regulations and standards for ICD-9-CM and HCPCS/CPT, as well as those determined by various payors.

Ability to decipher handwriting and ascertain unclearly documented information

Must adhere to assigned shift/work schedule in accordance with Perot Policy

Must have the ability to deal with physicians in resolving clinical questions.

Must apply constantly changing guidelines correctly in order to optimize reimbursement for facility.

Must be able to work in a team environment

One year clerical experience

Health Information Management experience
Minimum Educational Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent
