Job Purpose: Responsible for the financial reporting, maintenance, account reconciliation and analysis of the General Ledger and books of original entry, and the maintenance and documentation of internal accounting controls. Includes month end close accounting activities.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:May be responsible for preparing monthly and annual consolidated statements for Avnet, Inc.
Analyze financial reports and records, making studies or recommendations relative to the accounting of reserves, assets and expenditures.
Audit, review and verify the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications assigned to various records.
Conduct special studies and develop or recommend accounting methods and procedures.
Instruct or assign work to bookkeepers, accounting clerks and other employees engages in general accounting activities.
Coordinate accounting matters with other departments, locations and divisions.
Utilize computer to input, retrieve or display accounting information.
Prepare for year-end closings, internal and external audit works.
Verify funds are available for expenses.
Track down where funding is to be collected.
Serve as a technical resource for other finance personnel regarding GAAP, FASB and other generally accepted practices.
Collect, analyze and report on data.
Knowledge and Skill:
Knows and applies the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of accounting to include general ledger experience.Good analytical skills and knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles are essential. Proficiency in PC spreadsheet and accounting software is required.
Work experience requirements:
A minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience.Education & Certification Requirements:
Bachelorâ??s Degree in Accounting or Finance or a closely related degree and equivalent experience is required.

â?¢Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of accounting to the completion of difficult assignments.
